4.What is the Informal School (Studio Pangan Warga)?

All women who participate in the Pasar Ambwa traditional market must attend an informal village school called “Studio Pangan Warga”. As the leader of this program, I invite many friends to teach them how to separate waste, manage their income, and make environmentally friendly packaging (such as packages made from leaves and bamboo).
We hold classes every week from December to February, and have held a total of eight or ten classes between December 2024 and February 2025.
However, we will suspend our activities during Ramadan because it is a special period for Muslims.
After Ramadan, we will resume classes once every two weeks and continue learning by meeting at members’ homes, my home, or community spaces.

As we cook, we discuss how to obtain and handle local ingredients, how they are distributed, and how to cook them safely. I also think it is important to learn variations in food presentation and come up with ways to make food interesting to more people.
As for other activities, we don’t have a set program. If we have enough funds, we plan new activities, but if we don’t have enough funds, we don’t force them and just move forward while watching the situation.

Studio Pangan Warga is the name of the unofficial class. When you hear the word “studio,” you might imagine a specific place, but in reality, we don’t have a fixed facility or base.
Classes are not held in a fixed location, but in the homes of the women who participate, my home, the studio, or the community office, depending on the situation. The advantage of this activity is that you can learn anywhere, regardless of location.
