5.What is the Rice Harvesting Season Festival (Maa Ledungga)?

We also have a rice harvesting season festival called Maa Ledungga.

At the end of April, we plan to invite many artists to hold an exhibition in the rice fields and rice storage. We also plan to hold a traditional food tasting event for visitors to enjoy. In recent years, more artists have participated, and villagers enjoy night markets, music, and theater performances.

Maa Ledungga means “It’s already here” in Gorontalo. Through this festival, farmers feel happy that the harvest season has finally arrived. In the past, farmers celebrated the harvest season when they could eat the new rice and were happy to sell the rice and earn income. But now it’s just a misconception, and many farmers are in debt to the rich, and the government sometimes doesn’t care about farmers.(← If there’s any other way to write it that’s easier to understand, please let me know.)That’s why we held this festival. To celebrate together about the farmers’ activities.
